Unfortunately, bedbugs are alive and well in the Calgary area.  Bed bugs like to live and feed in beds.  They also like to travel and will hide in suitcases, boxes and shoes to be near a food supply. They are elusive, nocturnal creatures hiding behind baseboards, electrical switch plates, picture frames and even wall paper and coming out at night for a blood meal. Bed bugs like to hide in small cracks and crevices close to a human environment. They dine on any warm-blooded animal, but they prefer humans. Bed bugs do not transmit diseases, but their bites can become red, itchy welts and the labor required to eliminate them causes them to be seen as a great plague.
